The ECU (electronic control unit) is a printed circuit board hermetically sealed in a protective housing with a connector for connecting to the vehicle’s on-board electrical system. The metal or plastic body protects the filling from climatic and mechanical influences and serves as an air radiator. The case can be equipped with cooling fins to improve the transfer of heat from the electronic components. Fundamentally, the ECU is composed of several integrated controllers. The software is installed by the manufacturer. In a vehicle, the ECU can be located in the engine compartment, in the luggage compartment, or in the cabin (usually inside the dashboard or under the seat). More
