Shocks and struts parts for Mercedes trucks
Shock absorbers used in vehicles differ in design and purpose. In the suspension of passenger cars, hydraulic shock absorbers are widely used, in which the fluid is initially pumped with no change in its quantity or pressure to change the vehicle's ground clearance. These are telescopic shock absorbers that have a telescopic rod. When assembled with a spring, the shock absorber is called a strut. Springs can be coiled steel or pneumatic. Some premium cars and SUVs are equipped with air suspension, with the ability to adjust the ground clearance. These vehicles have an engine-driven compressor that pumps compressed atmospheric air into the suspension system. The role of springs is performed by pneumatic cylinders. A similar pneumatic suspension and ground clearance support system are used in heavy trucks. They typically combine hydraulic shock absorbers, hardened steel leaf springs, and air springs. In addition to suspension, telescopic struts are used in the hood and rear door stops, and in trucks, in the cab suspension. More
